Last year and during Lent, I did my recertification for SoulCore.

SoulCore combines the prayers of the Rosary with movement to nourish both your body and soul.

Once my certification was completed, several classes became available to me and one of those classes was called The Genesis Prescription.

Health can be incredibly complicated.

We often are told so many facts about our well-being and it can leave us both confused and not sure what steps to take.

The Genesis Prescription goes back to the basics.

It takes us back to the Bible and how God gave us exactly what we need in every aspect of our health.

Because of this class, I dug deeper into His Word 📖.

So much so that this Lent, I'm currently working on a Biblical Wellness program that is due to come out this summer.

For a little preview of what this course will be about, let's take a look at one of the first things that God made.....

Light 🌞

"And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good, and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness, he called Night."

I remember one summer getting up extra early to catch the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain located in Arcadia National Park.

Not only was it gorgeous to witness, but how watching that sunrise brought more joy and incredible peace that lasted the entire day. It shouldn't have surprised me....God designed it that way.

God designed our body to function in sync with natural light and dark cycles (Circadian rhythm).

Disrupting this rhythm can throw off hormonal balance and our overall health.

How?????

➡️Melatonin (Sleep 😴 and Repair - Darkness triggers melatonin which helps us to sleep 😴, supports healing, brain detoxification, and gut health.

➡️Cortisol (Stress and Energy) - Sunlight 🌞 in the morning 🌄 helps to regulate cortisol, reducing stress, and boosting mental alertness.

➡️Serotonin (Mood and Digestion) - Sun exposure increases Serotonin, which is a natural mood booster and converts to melatonin at night for restful sleep.

From the rising of the sun to the setting of the moon, God has designed our bodies to thrive in rhythm with His creation.

Sunlight isn’t just a source of warmth—it’s a divine tool that regulates our hormones, lifts our mood, and sustains our well-being.

As we welcome the morning sun and embrace restful nights, we align with God’s natural order, allowing our bodies to function as He intended.

Let’s step into His light, both physically and spiritually, and trust in His perfect design for our health.

Stay tuned as I share more about light and how it helps with detoxification in our body in my next post.
