The Missing Piece in Most Wellness Programs

For years, I believed that if women simply had the right information, their health would change.
Eat more vegetables.
Drink more water.
Walk every day.
Lift weights.
Get better sleep.
Reduce stress.
These are all wonderful habits. In fact, I teach many of them because I believe they align beautifully with the rhythms God designed for our bodies.
But over time, I began to notice something.
Most women already know what they should be doing.
They've read the books.
They've tried the diets.
They've joined the fitness programs.
They don't need another list of healthy habits.
So why do so many still struggle?
I don't believe it's because they're unmotivated or lacking discipline.
I believe something much deeper is happening.
Somewhere along life's journey, many women quietly stopped believing they were worth caring for.
They poured themselves into raising children.
Supporting their husbands.
Building careers.
Caring for aging parents.
Meeting everyone else's needs.
Little by little, they moved themselves to the bottom of the list.
Not because they didn't know they should take care of themselves.
But because they no longer believed they mattered enough to do it.
That's the missing piece I rarely see discussed in the wellness world.
Most programs focus on changing habits.
Very few help women change how they see themselves.
And yet, I have found that lasting wellness doesn't begin with a meal plan.
It begins with identity.
Psalm 139:14 reminds us:
"I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Before God ever asked us to steward our bodies, He first declared that His creation was good.
That includes you.
You are not valuable because of your dress size.
You are not worthy because you finally reached your goal weight.
You are not loved because you've mastered every healthy habit.
You are already deeply loved because you belong to Christ.
When that truth begins to settle into your heart, something remarkable happens.
Healthy choices stop feeling like punishment.
They become gratitude.
Preparing a nourishing meal becomes an act of thanksgiving.
Going for a walk becomes a celebration of the body God has given you.
Choosing rest becomes an act of trust instead of guilt.
Even saying "no" to constant busyness becomes a way of honoring the limits God designed.
I've watched women spend years trying to change their behaviors without ever addressing what was happening in their hearts.
But when identity changes, habits become sustainable.
Not because someone is forcing themselves to be healthier, but because they finally believe they're worth caring for.
This is why I no longer teach wellness as simply a list of things to do.
I teach Biblical wellness.
Because Scripture doesn't begin by telling us what to eat.
It begins by reminding us whose we are.
Everything else flows from there.
If you've struggled to stay consistent with your health, perhaps the answer isn't another diet or another program.
Perhaps the question isn't...
"What should I be doing?"
Perhaps the better question is...
"Do I truly believe I am worthy of caring for the body God entrusted to me?"
When you begin to see yourself through God's eyes, your health journey becomes less about striving and more about stewardship.
Less about perfection and more about faithfulness.
Less about changing your body and more about honoring the One who created it.
That is the foundation of Biblical wellness.
And I believe it's the missing piece so many women have been searching for.
