Why Women Keep Starting Over Every Monday

"I'll start on Monday."

How many times have we said those words?

Maybe after a weekend of eating differently than we planned.

Maybe after skipping workouts for a week.

Maybe after looking in the mirror and feeling disappointed.

Monday has become the unofficial "fresh start" for so many women.

But what if the problem isn't Monday?

What if the problem is believing that every setback means we've failed?

For years, I watched women and if I'm being honest, I've lived there too. The cycle goes something like this:

Monday: Full of determination.

Tuesday: Feeling motivated.

Wednesday: Life gets busy.

Thursday: Miss a workout. Grab takeout. Skip the walk.

Friday: "I'll do better tomorrow."

Saturday: Give up.

Sunday: Feel guilty.

Then...

"I'll start again on Monday."

Over and over again.

It's exhausting.

But I've come to believe that God never intended us to live in that cycle.

Scripture teaches us that growth is about faithfulness.

Those are two very different things.

God isn't standing over us with a checklist, waiting for us to have the perfect week.

He's inviting us to faithfully care for the body He entrusted to us, one choice at a time.

One healthy meal doesn't change your life.

Neither does one unhealthy meal.

One walk doesn't transform your health.

Neither does one missed walk undo your progress.

It's the small, faithful choices repeated over time that make the difference.

Isn't that how our faith grows, too?

We don't become spiritually mature because of going to church one Sunday.

We grow through daily prayer.

Daily time in God's Word.

Daily surrender.

Daily trust.

Our health is often much the same.

It's built through small rhythms of faithfulness.

Maybe that's why I love the word stewardship so much.

Stewardship doesn't demand perfection.

It asks for faithfulness.

Some days you'll have time to prepare a nourishing meal.

Other days you'll eat something simple because life is full.

Some mornings you'll enjoy a peaceful walk in the sunshine.

Other mornings you'll simply step outside for a few moments, breathe deeply, and thank God for a new day.

Both can honor Him.

Because honoring God isn't about checking every box.

It's about the posture of our hearts.

if you've found yourself saying, "I'll start again on Monday," I'd like to gently offer you another thought.

Why wait?

Why not begin with your very next choice?

Drink a glass of water.

Take a short walk.

Step outside and enjoy the morning light.

Pray before your next meal.

Choose gratitude over guilt.

The next faithful choice is always more important than the last imperfect one.

The enemy loves to convince us that we've failed and should give up.

But our God is the God of new mercies.

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23
