Your Mind Needs Quiet Too

We talk a lot about resting our bodies,
but what about resting our minds?
From the moment we wake up, there is something asking for our attention.

Even good information can become too much information.
And sometimes we don’t realize how mentally tired we are until we finally step away from the noise. I am speaking from experience here!
Psalm 46:10 says:
"Be still, and know that I am God."
I love that God doesn’t say, “Do more so you can find Me.”
He says, be still.
There are times when renewing our minds isn’t about adding another book, another podcast, another teaching, or another piece of advice.
Sometimes it’s about creating enough quiet to hear what God has already been saying.
Maybe that means sitting outside for ten minutes without your phone.
Taking a quiet walk.
Turning off the television.
Sitting with your Bible before you begin scrolling.
Or simply closing your eyes and breathing for a few moments while you remember that God is near.
Quiet can feel uncomfortable at first because we’ve become so accustomed to constant stimulation, but silence has a way of revealing what all the noise has been covering up.
Just maybe your mind isn’t asking for more information today.
Maybe it’s asking for less noise.
You don’t have to fill every empty moment.
Leave some room for stillness.
Leave some room for prayer.
Leave some room for God.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for your mindset is simply become quiet enough to remember Who is actually in control.
This week, give your mind the gift of quiet.
Find ten minutes, put the phone away, step outside or sit somewhere peaceful, and simply be still with God.
No agenda.
No scrolling.
No noise.
Just you and Him.
You may realize just how good it feels to rest your mind as well as your body.
